Smart Systems Integration 2019: Conference program published

The conference program for the Smart Systems Integration 2019 has been fixed: Top speakers from science and industry will present innovations, applications and trends in the field of smart systems in Barcelona from 10 – 11 April 2019.

Participants can expect an extensive program consisting of 52 lectures, 5 keynote lectures, a panel discussion on "Future aspects of smart integrated systems", 2 special sessions held by the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration (EPoSS) and 25 poster presentations.

“The 13th Smart Systems Integration Conference SSI2019 will show a snapshot of the international work in the field of smart systems integration on an application and a basic research level”, summarizes the Chairman of the Conference Committee, Prof. Dr. Thomas Otto, from the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems (ENAS).

New event with focus on IoT

Besides the EPoSS Working Group Meetings, there will be a new co-located session hosted by the Smart Systems HUB in Dresden, Germany entitled "Hardware, Software and Connectivity - enabling smart systems for various IoT applications". The event will focus on the core areas of the Smart Systems Hub - Enabling IoT: the comprehensive integration of hardware, software and connectivity (5G) as the foundation of our digital future. Here, experts from industry and research will demonstrate innovative applications, technologies and business models for digitization with a focus on industrial IoT, medical IoT, connectivity for IoT, IoT software technology and IoT smart system design.

Future-oriented lectures by the EPoSS

A special highlight of the conference will be the two Special Sessions by the EPoSS, which will take place on the first day of the conference and can also be booked free of charge by visitors to the event. The participants can expect two trendsetting topics: In Session I they can find further information on "Smart Systems in the Future European Funding Landscape" and in Session II the focus will be on "Smart Systems for Energy".

Extensive supporting program rounds off the event

The supporting program offers participants ideal networking opportunities as well as providing typical impressions of the country. One day prior to the start of the event, the Pre-Conference field trip will be taking place. The destinations this year is Hewlett-Packard's R&D Centre. In the largest HP subsidiary outside of the USA, attendees will learn how Hewlett-Packard's international research center is leading the fourth industrial revolution through innovation in 3D and 4D printing technologies.

The traditional conference dinner will take place on 10 April at Palau Requesens, a medieval Gothic palace in Barcelona's Old Town. During this dinner, the Best Paper and Best Poster winners of the SSI 18 will receive their Awards. 

Best Paper Award candidates

The program committee of Smart Systems Integration has selected the nominees for the Best Paper Award 2019. This year, the committee chose eight candidates from a large number of high-quality submissions:

The winner of the Award will be determined by the committee after the event. The Best Paper Award of Smart Systems Integration is endowed with 500 Euro prize money. The winner will further be invited to the event in 2020 and honored during the conference dinner.
